Newport RUFC like so many clubs in our area have built their success on the old
social ethos of the game. In todayʼs highly competitive league structure not all
players want the pressure that is associated with training twice a week and a full
on league match on a Saturday.
Fortunately social rugby is still alive and kicking at Newport and is championed by
our third fifteen whose style of play and enjoyment of the post match celebrations
win or lose, epitomises the old social and amateur values of our game.
We have a growing fixture list mainly against local sides to keep traveling to a
minimum. So if you fancy a run out on a Saturday afternoon mixed in with a
heavy dose of old fashioned camaraderie then call Sean Dourish AKA "Basso" or as some may know him "Glasso"
